MEP visits Donegal, meets key fishing representatives, and vows to fight for fair policies in Brussels
MEP Nina Carberry visited Donegal yesterday, holding key discussions with fishing industry representatives in Killybegs alongside Senator Manus Boyle.
The visit focused on the challenges facing Irish fisheries, including quotas, Brexit impacts, and concerns over unsustainable fishing practices by Norwegian vessels in European waters.
During her visit, MEP Carberry toured the Atlantic Dawn Group, one of the region’s leading seafood processing companies, where she praised Killybegs’ commitment to sustainability and innovation. She highlighted the town’s role as a leader in responsible fishing practices, reinforcing the need for policies that support Irish fishers and protect marine resources.
Carberry later met with Fine Gael members in Letterkenny, joined by Senator Nikki Bradley, where discussions focused on regional development priorities and the political landscape affecting Donegal and the wider northwest.
